Vancouver, British Columbia / TheNewswire / AFRICAN QUEEN MINES LTD. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has now received from the B.C. Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources its Amended Mines Act Permit: MX-1-611 (the "Permit"), which authorizes various exploration activities including diamond drilling on 16 mineral tenures comprising the Company's historic Yellowjacket Gold Mine 9 km. E of Atlin, B.C. and its immediate environs. The Permit allows for the Company to expand its 2017 exploration program and commence drilling from surface in its discretion at up to 20 drill sites. Each drill site is contemplated by the Company to host up to three holes depending upon circumstances. The Permit also authorizes incidental exploration trails and tree cutting and other customary exploration activities as detailed in the Notice of Work and Reclamation Program dated March 12, 2017, filed by the Company. This multi-year work approval extends for 5 years through March 31, 2022, although the Company anticipates that the work contemplated in the Permit will be completed far in advance of that date.
The Company now controls 51 mineral claims, 3 placer claims and one placer lease covering an aggregate of 291.54 km2 of strategic ground in the historically significant placer mining areas associated with many of the major creeks in the Atlin District. The permitted Yellowjacket Gold Mine is included within these tenures. The preponderance of its tenures is comprised of mineral claims covering structural trends within lithologies favourable for hosting hard rock gold deposits. The Permit authorizes exploration work on 16 of said tenures; several other permit applications have been filed by the Company and are pending with respect to work on the Company's other tenures in the Atlin District.
Linda Dandy, P.Geo., a Qualified Person within the meaning of N.I. 43-101, is providing on site supervision and guidance at the Project. She previously oversaw exploration activities on the Project for the Company in 2016 as well as for a predecessor operator. Overall project leadership at Yellowjacket is being provided by Dr. Reinhard Ramdohr, who also was on site in 2016.
