CALGARY, Alberta, Sept.11, 2017(GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Manson Creek Resources Ltd. (TSX.V:MCK) ("Manson") is pleased to announce preliminary results from its phase one reconnaissance program at its recently acquired DJ Jade project.

A two week program of initial mapping, prospecting and sampling was conducted between August 20th and September 3rd.Picket grids were established in the field over the first two target areas (Lode 1 and Lode 2) to situate and plot geological observations and sample site locations.

A total of approximately 87 pounds of samples were collected from site and are currently being cut for further testing and evaluation.

The area known as Lode 1 was based on a previously identified, roughly 1 meter wide nephrite jade vein exposed by hand trenching. Mapping determined that the showing was associated with the contact zone between an intermediate to felsic intrusive body and both serpentinized bodies and calc-silicate sedimentary units that form the country rock.A series of outcrops, subcrops as well as float material found at surface during mapping suggest that the nephrite bearing zone extends over some 140 meters in length (and remains open), with widths varying between roughly 50 centimeters to in excess of 1.5 meters where exposed. The zone remains open for further expansion and will be investigated by hand trenching in the next phase of work.

Samples collected from surface at the Lode 1 showings vary in appearance from opaque to semi translucent, with colors varying between dark green to light greenish blue.

The area known as Lode 2 is a hand trenched nephrite jade body that is exposed semi-continuously over 11.2 meters in strike length with an average width of approximately 1 meter. The nephrite jade body is part of a larger jade bearing fault/contact zone between calc-silicate units and serpentinites, which has been investigated at surface and where jade has now been identified in outcrop and float over some 50 meters of strike length. The zone remains open for further extension, and will be investigated by hand trenching in the next phase of work.

Samples collected from surface at Lode 2 include semi to highly translucent, dark to light green and locally light green with bluish tinges, as well as creamy white material.

As part of this first phase of work, test geophysical survey lines including ground magnetics, Electrical Resistivity Imaging (ERI) and Induced polarization (IP) were run over both known Lode zones. The purpose of the exercise was to determine if such geophysical testing and imagery could be further used to determine the presence of unexposed lodes hidden under vegetation cover, as well as extend known ones and determine if the techniques could also provide indication of depth and width potential to orient future drill testing. The data collected is currently being processed.

Samples are being cut and prepared for testing and evaluation.Although surface weathering and alteration can be observed to have locally strongly affected the Jade's translucency, color and texture, some relatively unaltered material was collected from both main targets.Confirmation of the samples' nature will rely on a combination of visual examination, microscope work, hardness tests, specific gravity tests as well as X-Ray investigation of the sample's chemical composition, as required.Photo galleries of cut samples will be posted on our website once this phase of work is completed.
