TORONTO, Nov. 8, 2017 /CNW/ - The Stars Group Inc. today announced that its BetStars sports betting brand has become the first international sports betting operator to become licensed in the Czech Republic, following approval this week by the Czech State Supervision of Gambling and Lotteries. The Stars Group expects to launch in the jurisdiction later this year. This past January, The Stars Group's flagship brand, PokerStars, became the first online poker and casino operator to be licensed in the Czech Republic.
BetStars.cz will be available to players in the Czech Republic across desktop, web and mobile devices on both iOS and Android. Under the provisions of its licence in the Czech Republic, BetStars.cz will not offer free bets or the popular Spin & Bet product, though players will still enjoy access to a full range of more than 20 sports and specialist betting options.
BetStars last month launched its next generation iOS mobile betting app and has begun rolling it out across certain of its European Union markets, giving sports bettors in those jurisdictions the same popular features and functions of the current BetStars mobile product with a brand new look and feel designed to enhance the overall user experience. This next generation app is initially available on iOS only through iTunes, with plans to roll out across Android and related stores in the near future.
"We're proud to be the first international sports betting operator to be awarded a license under the Czech Republic's new licensing regime. After extensive development, I am also very pleased that we are now able to begin offering players our exciting next generation mobile betting app, an integral part of our ongoing efforts to improve our product and overall offering for both existing and new customers," said Zeno Ossko, Managing Director of BetStars.
