The Metals:

Gold edged up to $1245.60 in Asia before it dropped back to $1238.40 in early afternoon New York trade and then bounced back higher into the close, but it still ended with a loss of 0.03%. Silver slipped to as low as $15.743 and ended with a loss of 0.06%.

Euro gold fell to about EUR1060, platinum lost $4 to $822, and copper dropped a penny to about $2.76.

Gold and silver equities ended slightly lower in mixed trade.

Strong U.S. retail sales brighten economic outlook Reuters

Tomorrow brings Industrial production, Capacity utilization, Jerome Powell testimony, and the Home builders' index.

The Markets:

Oil fell over 4% on talk over the possible release of oil from global reserves.

The U.S. dollar index fell along with treasuries ahead of this week's Jerome Powell testimony.

The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P held near unchanged on earnings uncertainty and trade tensions.

Among the big names making news in the market today were Deutsche Bank, Bitcoin, BlackRock, Amazon, Bank of America, Uber, Tesla, and Salesforce.
