RAPAPORT... Fellows sold a 14-carat diamond ring for more thandouble its estimate following a bidding war at its auction in Birmingham, UK,last week. The emerald-cut, 13.86-carat, H-color, VS2-clarity stone fetchedGBP 310,500 ($399,680) against a presale estimate of GBP 100,000 to GBP 150,000($128,700 to $193,100), the UK auction house said. A diamond-fringe necklace fetched GBP 177,160 ($228,043),while a set of pear-shaped diamond earrings weighing 3.98 carats and 3.15carats sold for GBP 81,664 ($105,119), the highest bid the company has receivedfor a pair of earrings, it said. Several Graff pieces were also popular, with a setof diamond cufflinks fetching GBP 24,244 ($31,207), while two pairs of dressstuds sold for GBP 25,520 ($32,850) each.
