(IDEX Online) - Jacob the Jeweler, watchmaker to rappers and celebs, has unveiled a $7m timepiece, encrusted with 189 carats of diamonds.The Billionaire Ashoka takes its name from unique cut of the stones, which in turns is named after the third-century Indian warrior King Ashoka Maurya.The patented cut is said to optimize brilliance and can make a stone looks up 30 per cent larger than an emerald cut diamond of the same carat weight. Every facet of the watch is covered in a total of 62 Ashoka diamonds.The one-off timepiece has been crafted by Swiss watchmakers Jacob & Co, founded in 1986 by Uzbekistan-born diamond designer Jacob Arabo.His reputation is such that he is mentioned by name in in hip-hop songs by artists Kanye West, Jay-Z, Beyonce and 50 Cent.The Billionaire Ashoka's watch movement consists of 167 components and 19 jewels, with a 72-hour power reserve.Pic courtsey Jacob & Co.
