(IDEX Online) - The Alrosa Diamond Inspector, the first portable Russian instrument for diamond verification, has received high results in the ASSURE testing program run by the Diamond Producers Association (DPA). The testing was carried out by UL Verification Services, Inc., an independent laboratory in the U.S.

The DPA program is designed to standardize the effectiveness of tools and special equipment for diamond identification.

The Alrosa Diamond Inspector tested almost 1,400 samples including natural I/II type diamonds, lab-grown diamonds - among them samples unavailable on the market - and

non-diamond imitations.

The machine referred 100 percent of lab grown diamonds and detected 96.4 percent of mined diamonds. The device also detected 100 percent of stimulants.

Analysis using the Alrosa Diamond Inspector takes 45 seconds per stone. The machine can analyze both loose and mounted stones from 0.03-10 carats and a color range from D to J (colorless and near colorless).
