(IDEX Online) - An Alrosa international auction for special size rough diamonds (weighing over 10.8 carats) held in Dubai realized over $7 million. The miner said it sold 112 large rough diamonds with a total weight of 1,740 carats.

"In Dubai, we sold 75% of auctioned rough diamonds," said Evgeny Agureev, deputy CEO of ALROSA

"This is a good result at the time when tough market is still having an impact on the demand and sales. Despite the difficult situation, our Dubai trading site remains attractive for clients from all over the world."

Eighty-four participants from the major diamond trading centers, such as UAE, India, Belgium, Russia, Israel and Hong Kong took part in the sale.

This was the fourth auction for special size rough diamonds in Dubai this year. The next one will take place in December.
