BHP cuts iron ore output guidance for FY2018

BHP is anticipating a drop in iron ore output from its Australian operations in its financial year ending June 30 but expects to meet its target for metallurgical coal production.

The miner's Western Australia Iron Ore operations produced 67 million tonnes of the steelmaking raw material on a 100% basis in the March quarter, up 8% on the year but down 6% from the preceding quarter, according to its production update on Thursday April 19.It attributed the year-on-year increase to record output at Jimblebar and Mining Area C mines as well as better rail reliability, while blaming the quarter-on-quarter decrease on Cyclone Joyce and unexpected...
