Belgium does not Oppose Sanctions on Russian Diamonds, says PM(IDEX Online) - Belgium has not opposed EU sanctions against Russian diamonds, its prime minister told national radio.Alexander De Croo (pictured) was responding to calls within the federal government -from the Flemish Green party Groen and French-speaking socialist party PS among others - to stop the importation of diamonds from Russia. "I would like to formally say that our country has never obstructed any measures regarding diamonds. Our country has never intervened in this respect," he told Radio 1 last week, according to the Brussels Times newspaper.He said Belgium would certainly not oppose measures taken against Russia by the rest of the EU in response to its invasion of Ukraine.
