Brazilian crude steel output up 2% in April amid recovering market

Crude steel output in Brazil rose by 1.90% year-on-year in April, with both demand and consumption volumes increasing, according to figures released by national steel institute A??o Brasil on Tuesday May 22.

Production in the month came to 2.95 million tonnes, compared with 2.89 million tonnes a year earlier.Brazilian mills produced 2 million tonnes of finished steel last month, up by 6.40% from April 2017's 1.88 million tonnes.Over the same period, flat steel output increased by 5.60%, to 1.22 million tonnes from 1.16 million tonnes, while long steel production grew by 7.70%, to 831,000 tonnes from 783,000 tonnes.Apparent steel consumption in Brazil totaled 1.70 million tonnes in April, up by 25.90%...
