Brazilian slab export prices steady on Section 232 uncertainty

Brazil's slab export prices were unchanged this week as companies continued to focus on the North American market, although uncertainty regarding negotiations over the United States' Section 232 tariff exemptions was affecting the industry.

Metal Bulletin's weekly assessment of Brazil's slab export price was $600-610 per tonne fob on Friday April 20, unchanged from the previous week.Offers from Brazil continued to be reported at $620 per tonne fob for June shipment but no deals were confirmed this week as buyers remain hesitant to purchase at current prices."Buyers are resisting ... book[ing] orders," one source said.Brazilian slab producers are focusing on North American clients after the country was temporarily exempted...
