Brazilian steel industry to seek relief from US Section 232 measures

Brazil plans to ask the US government to alleviate Section 232 measures against its semi-finished and finished steel products, according to the local steel association, A??o Brasil.

The association plans to ask for the removal of Section 232 quotas against imports of slab and an increase in annual limits for finished steel."It is now the moment to ask for a revision of Section 232 measures [against Brazil]," A??o Brasil executive president Marco Polo de Mello Lopes said.The country will try again to convince US authorities to exempt Brazilian imports of semi-finished steel products such as slab and billet from any tariffs or quotas."It makes no sense [for the United States] to block Brazilian semi-finished products...
