CHINA HRC: Prices withdraw but talk of pollution controls raises uncertainties

China's domestic hot-rolled coil prices retreated over most of the day on Tuesday December 4, but word of a meeting on pollution controls led to some late gains in the market.

DomesticEastern China (Shanghai): 3,690-3,700 yuan ($534-536) per tonne, narrowing downward by 30 yuan per tonneNorthern China (Tianjin): 3,580-3,600 yuan per tonne, down 40-50 yuan per tonnePrices in eastern China mostly hovered around 3,700 yuan per tonne up until 3pm - the cut-off time for Fastmarkets MB's daily assessment - with trading activity being extremely thin in the morning.But between 3pm and 4.30pm, prices were said to have risen as high as 3,730 yuan per tonne - the top of the range...
