China looks to export steelmaking technology amid rising trade tensions

China will increasingly turn to exporting steelmaking equipment and technology instead of steel products because of rising trade tensions, according to the president of the China Iron & Steel Association (Cisa), Yu Yong.

Speaking at the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) conference in Tokyo on Wednesday October 17, Yu - who is also the chairman of Hesteel Group - said that while trade challenges had limited China's overseas sales of finished goods, the country has instead been exporting advanced steelmaking technologies and looking for more opportunities for international collaboration.This will help China to find other ways "to better contribute to world steel development," he said.Hesteel Group, along with other Chinese companies such as Tsingshan Holding Group,...
