Chinese Bourse Hosts India Diamond Week

China's Shenzhen Rough Diamond Exchange (SRDE) hosted anIndia Diamond Week to promote trade between the two countries.The June 13 to 15 event - in partnership with India's Gem& Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) - drew 20 Indian diamondmanufacturers and more than 100 jewelry producers, retailers and diamondcompanies from Shenzhen and other regions of China. Participating Indianfirms included Star Rays, Hari Krishna Exports, Venu Diamond andDharam Creations.The event was important for promoting trade between India andChina, SRDE vice president Julius Zheng said last week.Gem and jewelry trading between the two countries grew29% to $21.41 billion in 2017, according to SanjaySingh, the GJEPC's regional director for the state of Rajasthan.Around 10 million couples get married in China every year, opening up a large market for jewelry sales, according to Guo Xiaofei, secretary general of the Shenzhen Gold and JewelryAssociation.Image: Participants at India Diamond Week in Shenzhen
