Cost of Watchmaster Raid Soars from $10m to $32m

(IDEX Online) - The total value of the raid that netted $10m from a Watchmaster vault has now been put at $32m.Sebastian Buchner, spokesman for the Berlin public prosecutor, told reporters on Friday that valuables worth a total of $22m were stolen from lockers rented to private customers at the same venue.Police say the perpetrators, disguised as security guards, sprayed paint on surveillance camera lenses at Vallog GmbH on Fasanenstrasse, near the center of the German capital, in the morning of 19 November, then broke into the building the same evening.They managed to get through a 1.75 meter-thick steel door, crack the security codes and overcome a fog alarm, according to news reports.Watchmaster lost 1,000 watches in the raid - mostly those being stored for customers planning to sell them.  It has since filed for bankruptcy.Berlin Police have released photos and video showing the suspects (see above).
