DPA Creates New Public-Affairs Role

RAPAPORT... The Diamond Producers Association (DPA) has appointed RalucaAnghel to fill a new post as head of external affairs and industry relations,starting November 1. Anghel will be based in London, reporting to CEO Jean-MarcLieberherr, the DPA said Thursday. She will oversee the organization'sinteractions with major trade bodies to ensure the industry works together. Herrole includes leading the DPA's global public-affairs agenda in areas such asterminology, and taking charge of the Assure program for testing syntheticsdetectors. She will also head the group's communications activities in Europe. "There is a great need and opportunity for all major industryorganizations to work closely together on progressing a joint agenda,"Lieberherr said. "Raluca's collaborative style and strong communicationsbackground will make her an important asset not only to the DPA but to theindustry as a whole." Anghel previously held positions at Microsoft Europe and,more recently, with the European Parliament. Her appointment comes shortly after the DPA announced thatformer Watches of Switzerland and Ralph Lauren marketer David Kellie would jointhe association as CEO in December, succeeding Lieberherr.Image: Raluca Anghel.
