Dame Vera's White Cliffs of Dover Bracelet to be Sold

(IDEX Online) - A pearl and diamond bracelet specially made for singer Dame Vera Lynn - Britain's celebrated wartime Forces' Sweetheart - is to be sold at auction.It includes a hand-painted enamel depicting a bluebird over the white cliffs of Dover, a reference to one of her most famous songs.Dame Vera died in June aged 103. The White Cliffs of Dover bracelet is being sold online at Christie's Important Jewels sale, which closes tomorrow.It was created by the Queen's jeweler Harry Collins as a 90th birthday gift in 2007 from Stars Foundation for Cerebral Palsy (SFCP), a charity she'd supported for 70 years.  Proceeds from the sale will got to the SFCP.The bracelet is crafted from gold, cultured pearls (4.50-5.00 mm approx) and circular-cut diamonds.Her songs lifted the British troops' spirits during World War II. They were full of optimism and longing such as We'll Meet Again and The White Cliffs of Dover.Her lifetime of service to her country was officially recognized in 1975 she was made a Dame.Christie's estimate is $10,080 to $15,120 (?, ?8,000 - ?, ?12,000).
