De Beers Unit IIDGR Reacts To Synthetics Detection Warning

(IDEX Online) - The International Institute of Diamond Grading and Research (IIDGR), part of the De Beers Group, provides the following statement regarding the press release distributed by Diamond Services on 17 April 2018 titled: Lab Alert - HPHT-grown diamonds might escape detection as synthetics, once they are treated with irradiation:

 

"IIDGR confirms that its instruments AMS2, SYNTHdetect, DiamondView and DiamondSure are all effective at screening HPHT synthetic material which has been irradiated and is tested at room temperature.

 

"Any business using these devices can have full confidence that any such material will be detected without the need to undertake tests at different temperatures."
