The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a rousing 113-52-124. The TSX Venture Exchange rose one point to 830 while polished diamond prices edged lower. James Nelson's Spearmint Resources Inc. (SRJ) added 1.5 cents to nine cents on 13.16 million shares. The company has received permits to drill its Clayton Valley lithium project in southern Nevada. Mr. Nelson says the company has the required cash and will start work before the end of March.

Patrick Power and Scott Eldridge's Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD), up 1.5 cents to 16.5 cents on 532,000 shares, has found a new kimberlite on its Timantti diamond project in Finland. The discovery was made by drilling -- the usual way -- but what is unusual is that the drilling took place over a decade ago by a previous explorer. Mr. Eldridge, who replaced Mr. Power as president and chief executive officer in November, says that the kimberlite determination was made by examining old drill core held in an archive maintained by the Finnish Geological Survey (GTK).
