Diamond Foundry set to Open Lab Grown Factory in Spain

(IDEX Online)  - Diamond Foundry, the Silicon Valley startup, says test production of lab growns at its new factory in Trujillo, Spain, will begin this autumn.It estimates output at more than 2m carats a year with 168 plasma reactors using its own patented CVD (chemical vapor deposition) method.The majority of the diamonds it produces will be for the automotive sector or 5G communication networks, but some will be gem quality for the jewelry sector.The 6,000m2 facility will be solar-powered, from a photovoltaic plant 5km away.Hollywood actor Leonardo Dicaprio, who stared in the 2006 movie Blood Diamond, is among Diamond Foundry's investors.Pic courtesy Diamond Foundry, shows plasma reactors.
