Diamonds to Lead Christie's Online Jewels Sales

Christie's will offer a variety of diamonds at its two upcoming Jewels Online sales, with a necklace by designer Garrard estimated to fetch up to GBP 220,000 ($277,262).The piece features a pear-shaped, 4.78-carat, E-color, VVS2-clarity diamond, as well as marquise-, pear-shaped and circular-cut diamonds weighing approximately 55 to 60 carats. It's the top item up for sale at the June 6 to 16 auction in London, Christie's said Wednesday.A cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 12.56-carat, fancy-intense-yellow diamond ring by Ritz London is also set to go under the hammer. It carries a high estimate of GBP 150,000 ($189,042). Meanwhile, a pear brilliant-cut, 4.49-carat, E-color, VVS1-clarity diamond ring has an upper price tag of GBP 100,000 ($126,028). Christie's will open the auction with a pair of diamond waterfall earrings by Graff, estimated at up to GBP 50,000 ($63,014) and on behalf of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. The earnings from that sale, which will be presented to the winning bidder with a signed edition of the author's 2021 bestselling book, The Christmas Pig, as well as a personal message, will benefit Rowling's children's charity, Lumos.Separately, Christie's will hold a New York Jewels Online sale, which will run from May 31 to June 10. Notable items from the auction include a round-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 2.02-carat, fancy-light-orangey-pink, VVS2-clarity diamond ring. The piece has an upper estimate of $180,000. A cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut, 0.84-carat, fancy-intense-pink, internally flawless diamond ring has a price of $50,000 to $70,000.
