EUROPE ALLOY STEEL SCRAP: UK prices narrow as nickel costs fluctuate

The UK inter-merchant price range for austenitic alloy steel products narrowed upward by ?10 per tonne this week while the price of nickel fluctuated, sources said on Friday April 6.

Metal Bulletin's weekly price assessment for inter-merchant 18/8 scrap solids in the UK was ?940-980 ($1,319-1,375) per tonne delivered on Thursday, compared with ?930-980 per tonne on March 29.The London Metal Exchange three-month official nickel bid/offer spread was $12,900/12,920 per tonne on April 6. This was down from $13,280/13,300 per tonne on March 29. The price had reached a near two-week high of $13,590/13,600 per tonne on April 3.The price for 18/8 alloy steel turnings in the UK domestic market on Thursday was ?800-835 per tonne delivered to the scrapyard, calculated at an average...
