RAPAPORT... Phillips will feature two diamond pieces by Chinese jewelry designer Feng J at an auction later this month, estimating they will fetch up to $5.8 million combined. The Jardin de Giverny, a diamond and gem-set necklace featuring a 19-carat, fancy-light-pink diamond center stone, carries a high presale valuation of $3.8 million. Designed to look like a garland of flowers, the necklace, which also features sapphires, aquamarines, spinels, tanzanites, and tsavorites, can be transformed into a ring and bracelet set. It will lead the auction house's Hong Kong Jewels and Jadeite sale on November 28, Phillips said last week.A separate piece by the designer, a ring called Fountain of Diamonds, contains 95 diamond beads surrounding a 22.08-carat, D-color, VS1-clarity diamond, estimated at up to $2 million."We are seeing individual jewelry designers getting more and more attention across the international jewelry market, as collectors migrate towards craftsmanship and unique jewels," said Graeme Thompson, worldwide head of jewelry at Phillips. "Feng J brings a visionary approach to creating her one-of-a-kind treasures - the design concept of each jewel inspired by a childhood surrounded by art, her worldly travels and her classical jewelry training in Paris."Other notable items include a pair of sapphire and diamond earrings, which are expected to fetch between $1.3 million and $2 million, as well as a 12.33-carat, D-color, internally flawless diamond ring, with a high estimate of $1.1 million.Signed jewels by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, Boucheron, Tiffany & Co., and Graff will also be among the 148 items on offer.Image: The Feng J jewels.
