GIA (Gemological Institute of America) opened its new laboratory in Kowloon in the presence of Susan Jacques, GIA president and CEO, and Tom Moses, GIA executive vice president and chief laboratory and research officer. The opening reception of GIA's new and expanded location was held in mid-February with laboratory clients and industry executives in attendance.

"Hong Kong is a vital center of the global gem and jewelry industry and we are pleased to be here, working to ensure consumer confidence," said Jacques.

"Since the laboratory first opened in 2010, we have seen an increase in the demand for our laboratory services," said Moses. "This expanded facility allows us to advance our mission to ensure the public trust and to better serve our clients with high quality gem identification and grading services."
