GLOBAL CHROME WRAP: Weak steel demand in Asia calms ferro-chrome market; European Turkish lumpy chrome ore softens; US spot moves up

Chinese domestic ferro-chrome prices, the charge chrome index and UG2 index rolled over last week due to the Tomb-sweeping holiday; Turkish lumpy chrome ore and low carbon ferro-chrome into Europe dipped, while South Korea, Japan and the US markets were quiet.

Jiuquan Iron & Steel (Jisco) released its April ferro-chrome tender prices at 7,250 yuan ($1,149) per tonne on Tuesday April 2. This was flat with North China's Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Tisco) as usual, and down 500 yuan compared with the March tender price.The stainless steel sector is still weak. Downstream, steel mills purchased prudently amid negative sentiment.On the chrome ore side, miners' were ambiguous about when they would set prices after the holiday.
