Global primary foundry alloy premiums steady on easing silicon prices

Prices for aluminium primary foundry alloy (PFA) in Europe and the US were steady, with global silicon prices starting to ease during the last few weeks.

Fastmarkets assessed the aluminium primary foundry alloy, silicon 7 ingot premium, ddp Germany at $800-900 per tonne on Friday November 12, flat at a record high from the previous assessment, on October 8.

The premium is up by 45% from September on the heels of surging silicon prices.
