New York spot gold gained $7.20 to $1,333.40 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange dropped 1.41 points to 769.15 while the TSX Gold Index added 1.54 points to 185.95. Most Canadian gold miners moved little today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) added 70 cents to $54.33 on 868,000 shares while Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) fell six cents to $22.91 on 242,000 shares.

Terrance MacGibbon and Fred Stanford's Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) leapt $3.91 to $11.57 on 2.94 million shares on word that negotiations have ended an illegal blockade of the company's El Limon-Guajes (ELG) gold mine in Guerrero, Mexico. As a result, mining in the El Limon pit is expected to resume today. The processing plant has been running uninterrupted since it resumed operation in mid-January. Torex's ELG woes began in early November, when a union attempted to bully its way into representing the company's miners, who already had union representation that most were happy with. The renegades set up a blockade and after bouts of violence, Torex suspended mining at ELG.
