New York spot gold gained $14.60 to $1,317.10 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 20.32 points to 871.04 while the TSX Gold Index added 3.88 points to 199.34. McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) was strong, adding 23 cents to $3.09 on 981,000 shares. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) bucked bullion's trend, dropping 46 cents to $11.47 on 830,000 shares.

Ellen Clements's New Nadina Explorations Ltd. (NNA) may already be one of the biggest busts of 2018. The stock, which ran from eight cents in late October to a mid-November high of $4.60, based on eyeball assessments of drill core, dipped as low as 45 cents in intraday trading today before ending the day down $2.82 to 48 cents on 6.95 million shares. The crash came on the heels of the long-awaited assays from two of three holes drilled at the company's Silver Queen precious and base metals project near Houston in central British Columbia.
