New York spot gold gained $6.60 to $1,353.40 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 1.26 points to 816.54 while the TSX Gold Index rose 2.63 points to 190.34. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) led Canadian gold miners higher today, adding 60 cents to $54.46 on 1.08 million shares. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) was weak once again. The stock, worth nearly $22 in 2011, lost another seven cents to $1.10 on 7.18 million shares.

Ewan Downie's Premier Gold Mines Ltd. (PG), unchanged at $3.26 on 402,000 shares, has updated reserve and resource estimates for its Mercedes mine in Sonora, Mexico. The company currently lists a reserve of 3.29 million tonnes averaging 3.95 grams of gold and 24.2 grams of silver per tonne, totals of nearly 420,000 ounces of gold and 2.56 million ounces of silver. There are additional reserves present. Premier lists 4.68 million tonnes measured and indicated at 4.32 grams of gold and 43.7 grams of silver per tonne, plus 1.63 million tonnes inferred at 4.2 grams of gold and 34 grams of silver per tonne. The additional resources provide an extra 733,000 ounces of gold and just under seven million ounces of silver.
