Greatland finds copper, silver and gold at Australia project's Scallywag target

London-listed explorer Greatland Gold (LON:GGP) has detected copper, silver, gold and pathfinder elements at its Scallywag target of the company's Paterson project in Western Australia.

The sampling results, said Greatland on Tuesday, reinforce the potential of both precious metals and copper mineralization at the site, located within its Havieron licence.

Copper, silver and gold detected in the first round of mobile metal ion (MMI) were located along the western parts of the target area.

Mobile metal ion (MMI) sampling results, completed in the third quarter, showed Scallywag consists of several magnetic anomalies over a large area of approximately 6km by 4km.

Highest results returned from MMI sampling included 2750 parts per billion (ppb) copper, 8ppb silver, 0.4ppb gold, 50ppb arsenic, 480ppb cerium and 280ppb lanthanum.

The grouping patterns of certain elements, as seen in the MMI response over parts of the Scallywag target, are similar to those patterns seen in MMI and drill assays from the Havieron prospect, the company said.

"Scallywag represents a high priority target for further exploration given the large size of the target, its relative proximity to Havieron, and its potential to host the prospective basement sequence under relatively shallow cover at probable depths of around 50 metres," Chief Executive Officer Gervaise Heddle said in the statement.

Greatland Gold plans to carry out further interpretation of MMI results, which will be used along with detailed aeromagnetic and ground gravity data to refine targets before drill testing.

It also intends to continue its programme of regional exploration over the course of the next 12 to 18 months.
