RAPAPORT... The Hong Kong show usually scheduled for September will take place in an online-only format this year due to the coronavirus.Jewellery & Gem World Hong Kong, formerly the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, was initially rescheduled to November because of the pandemic. However, organizer Informa Markets has now canceled the physical event entirely, and will instead hold J&G Digital World from October 27 to 29, it said Tuesday. The virtual show will combine digital product meetings with industry forums, discussions and practical gemology workshops, Informa explained. The event's digital catalogs, personalized showroom technology and other features "will endure as a valuable service beyond the Covid-19 crisis," the company added. The physical show will return in September 2021.Image: The September 2019 Hong Kong show. (Informa Markets)
