In the past, we've published visuals of the biggest public companies in each U.S. state, as well as the largest oil and gas companies in the world.

Today's post, however, shows the largest companies by revenue in each U.S. State. (Note: the graphic says 2015 revenue, but we believe it meant to say 2014 revenue as many companies have not released 2015 data yet.)

The largest company by revenue in the United States?

It's Walmart, which was founded in Arkansas in 1962. The company is the clear winner with north of $480 billion in revenue made possible by the 260 million customers that visit its stores and e-commerce site each week. Although Walmart's stock struggled considerably in 2015, so far in 2016 it is up 10.3%.

Walmart is also the largest company by revenue on a global level, though Sinopec ($455 billion) and China National Petroleum ($428 billion) come close. That said, the two Chinese energy giants will likely see substantial drops in revenues as oil prices continue to dwindle.
