(IDEX Online) - Raiders fled a jewelry store in California, USA, after an employee fired a shot.Five hooded suspects used hammers to smash showcases at Prestige Jewelers, inside the Manhattan Village shopping mall at Manhattan Beach, on Friday (6 October)."An employee of the store responded by using a firearm to shoot towards the suspects," said local police."The suspects fled the store to awaiting vehicles . . . No employees were injured however, some jewelry was taken."According to local media reports the same store was targeted in August 2014, when smash and grab raiders, also armed with hammers, got away with $250,000 of Rolex watches and diamonds.One suspect was arrested on the day of the raid, said Manhattan Beach police in an update.
