(IDEX Online) - A grieving son was appalled when he learned that a funeral home had taken the fingerprint of his dead mother - and passed it to a jewelry company.Mark Cady-Archilla received an email from a US company called Legacy Touch, offering to sell him a pendant with the fingerprint of his mother Jacqueline Cady as a personalized keepsake. He challenged Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand, Orlando, Florida."I said tell me how in the world you got my mother's fingerprint," he told the WESH2 news channel."And he said, well, we do that. It's normal practice. I feel like my mother was violated. I really do."WESH2 says there are no state laws against fingerprinting the dead, after checking with Florida's Department of Financial Services, which regulates funeral homes. The home involved says it has since changed its policy. WESH2 said it contacted Legacy Touch multiple times for comment but has not heard back.Pics courtesy WESH2
