Lucapa Recovers 64ct. Rough at Mothae

RAPAPORT... Development work at the Mothae mine in Lesotho has paid off for Lucapa Diamond Company, with the discovery of a 64-carat rough, the highest-quality diamond found at thedeposit to date.  The miner recovered the D-color, type IIa stone at Mothae's higher-margin southern pit, it said Tuesday. Lucapa began production in that area in the past month, following the construction of a dam enabling it to remove water. The company intends to continue processing from that portion ofthe site through the end of the year, it noted. "The recovery of this exceptional 64-carat gem...represents a great start to our mining campaign in the higher-margin zones inthe southern pit at Mothae," said Lucapa CEO Stephen Wetherall.
