(IDEX Online) - Lucara yesterday (21 February) announced the recovery of a 320-carat diamond from its Karowe mine, in Botswana, together with a 111-carat stone, and two +50-carat stones. The Vancouver-based miner has now recovered 330 +100-ct diamonds since the mine began commercial production in 2012.The 320-carat recovery is described as "a stunning, gem-quality, top light brown diamond". The other three are all Type IIa white stones. Last month Lucara has announced its first notable recovery of 2024, a 166-ct Type IIa gem.William Lamb, Lucara's president and CEO, said: "We are thrilled with the consistent success we continue to achieve in uncovering large, high-value diamonds, reaffirming Lucara's position as a leading producer of large high-quality gem diamonds."All four diamonds were recovered from the direct milling of EM/PK(S) kimberlite ore from the mine's South Lobe and were identified using advanced diamond recovery and retrieval technology. They'll be sold by HB Antwerp after Lucara confirmed earlier this week that it had entered a new sales agreement with the company.Pic courtesy Lucara.
