Maniloff discusses report on carbon trading program with Inside Climate News

Peter Maniloff, assistant professor of economics and business at Colorado School of Mines, recently discussed the findings of a new report on the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative with Inside Climate News. The report, from economics consulting firm Analysis Group, found $1.4 billion in economic benefits across the nine member states and no harm to the reliability of the electric grid over the three-year study period.

Peter Maniloff, an economist at the Colorado School of Mines and a co-author of the Duke study, said this latest Analysis Group report is making a key point that should not be taken for granted.

"This provides real evidence that these programs are not causing large economic harms," Maniloff said. "This report's finding is inconsistent with the idea that moderate climate policies would wreck economies."
