More Brands Quit Baselworld 2019

RAPAPORT... Three watchmakers have reportedly statedtheir intention to leave Baselworld following Swatch Group's exit from the Swissshow. Zurich-based Maurice Lacroix will not participate in the 2019 event, a Baselworld spokespersonconfirmed to Rapaport News. Corum and Raymond Weil have also chosennot to attend, citing the high cost of exhibiting and claiming the trade showlacked fresh ideas, according to reports. "We have to respecttheir reasons if they decide against...participation," a Baselworld spokesperson said Thursday."Some decide to try other ways of marketing, some want to concentrate on othermarkets, some simply cannot afford [to participate] anymore. There is always acertain percentage of changes among the exhibitors in the trade-show business." Swatch Groupannounced in July it would not return to the show next year.
