Steel product sales at Russia's largest steelmaker, Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) rose by 13% year on year in the first quarter of 2018 to 4.15 million tonnes, up from 3.67 million tonnes in the same period in 2017.
The increase was due to higher slab sales in NLMK's export markets and rising long steel sales in Russia, the company said.The company sold 1.82 million tonnes of slabs from its Lipetsk-based facility in January-March 2018, up by 10% year on year from 1.65 million tonnes in the same quarter in 2017.About 1.25 million tonnes went to the company's foreign subsidiaries and affiliates, a 6% year-on-year increase from 2017's 1.18 million tonnes In addition to the Lipetsk complex, NLMK operates two long steel mills in Russia: one at Nizhniye Sergi in the Sverdlovsk region and another in the Kaluga region.The company also runs flat steel...
