New Tech: QR Codes to Chart Diamond Journey

(IDEX Online) - A Belgian tech company says it will use QR codes to record every step in a diamond's journey, providing a "traceability solution" for the whole industry.The company, iTraceiT, is currently working on pilot projects with partners and says it will launch globally later this year.It claims its technology will be an "industry-wide, independent, user-friendly and totally secure tool for the complete authentication of diamonds of all sizes."Each rough stones will be assigned QR code that records all processes performed on it along the pipeline from mine to finger.Frederik Degryse, CEO of  iTraceiT, said: "We believe that we now have a solution ???,? ? that connects all stages of the pipeline in a united effort to make the end consumer feel confident and good about their purchase."
