New York Jeweler, 79, Fighting for Life after Savage Raid

(IDEX Online) - The elderly owner of a New York jewelry store is fighting for his life after he was savagely beaten in a $100,000 raid.Manny Cohen, 79, was attacked by two men who forced their way into Roxy Jewelry, in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn, as he was closing for the day.His son Shawn was worried when he didn't answer his phone and scrolled back through the surveillance footage. He told the New York Post he saw them trying to hide his father's body under the subfloor, before spending over 20 minutes stuffing their pockets full of jewelry.He told New York Daily News: "These thugs, they went in there with the intention to kill him. They thought they killed him. They didn't have any issue with beating an (old man) to death."Mr Cohen suffered a bleed to the brain and is being treated in intensive care. The perpetrators remain at large.Jewelers' Security Alliance (JSA) is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
