Ontario's Government for the People is supporting Northern Ontario's digital economy sector by investing in world-class software that will help businesses grow.

Today, Ross Romano, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, announced new investments of $645,000.

This includes $500,000 for Canadian Bank Note Company to develop Bingo Management System software to manage games across multiple platforms in Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) licensed gaming centres.

Insightworks Learning and Development (ILD) will also receive about $145,000 to develop training and development software for mobile apps, web apps, web browsers and desktop computers to help organizations recruit, train, develop and retain staff through visual, interactive and 3D-learning experiences.

"Ontario's Government for the People is delivering on our commitment to foster economic growth in Northern Ontario," said Parliamentary Assistant Romano. "The digital economy in the north continues to grow. By investing in this innovative sector, we are making sure people in Sault Ste. Marie and across Northern Ontario have access to good paying jobs. We are sending a signal to the world that Northern Ontario is Open for Business."
