(IDEX Online) - Pandora says its achieved its target of using only recycle gold and silver in its jewelry. The Danish company says it no longer sources any newly-mined supplies for the 100m-plus items of jewelry it sells every year.Pandora says the move will save 58,000 tons of CO2 a year, equivalent to the electricity used to power 11,000 homes."Precious metals can be recycled forever without any loss of quality. Silver originally mined centuries ago is just as good as new, and improved recycling can significantly reduce the climate footprint of the jewellery industry," said CEO Alexander Lacik.  The carbon footprint of recycled gold is less than 1 per cent of mined gold. For recycled silver it's around a third. Pandora, which manufactures all its jewelry in Vietnam, says it hit the target of using 100 per cent recycled precious metals in December 2023.Generic pic of molten gold.
