RAPAPORT... A pink-diamond necklace by designer Feng J was the top seller at Phillips's Hong Kong sale, leading the $9 million auction. The Jardin de Giverny, a diamond and gem-set necklace featuring a 19-carat, fancy-light-pink diamond center stone, sold for $2.6 million, the auction house said Monday. The piece, which can also be transformed into a ring and bracelet set, brought in just over its $2.5 million lower estimate at the November 28 Jewels and Jadeite sale.A separate piece by the designer, a ring called Fountain of Diamonds estimated at up to $2 million, failed to find a buyer. The jewel contains 95 diamond beads surrounding a 22.08-carat, D-color, VS1-clarity diamond. Other notable items included a pear-shaped, 12.33-carat, D-color, internally flawless, type IIa diamond ring, which brought in $968,790, within its presale estimate. A pair of Pigeon's blood Burmese ruby and diamond earrings, weighing 3.34 carats and 3.03 carats, went for $650,160, beating its high estimate. In total, the auction house sold 78% of items on offer, the highest-ever sale percentage by lot for a Phillips jewelry sale in Asia, noted Graeme Thompson, worldwide head of jewelry for Phillips.Phillips will hold its New York Jewels auction on December 7.Image: The Feng J necklace.
