RAPAPORT... Platinum Guild International (PGI) will offer its new lineof jewelry, Platinum Born, in 30 stores throughout the US, including majorretailer Saks Fifth Avenue. The organization will also expand the selection it offers inthe luxury fashion-jewelry brand, which it launched in four stores in the US last year. Thecollection was created to target the nation's growing number of femaleself-purchasers, PGI noted in its 2019 Platinum Jewellery Business Review lastmonth. "The US jewelry industry has seen an increase inself-purchasing women as they are choosing to commemorate their successesthrough jewelry," notes PGI USA president Jenny Luker. The line servesprofessional, educated women who purchase jewelry for themselves at accessibleprice points, the guild added. Platinum Born's jewelry pieces sell for $400 to $7,000.
