(IDEX Online) - RioZim has bought the Sperrgebiet Diamond Mine in Namibia in a deal reportedly worth $58m.

Sperrgebiet has two land and two offshore licenses and says it specializes in small and melee diamonds.

It describes itself as "a diversified natural resource company that performs land-based exploration, mining and rehabilitation operation and services".

RioZim, the Zimbabwe-based diversified miner, is keen to expand its activities in Africa.

According to a Bloomberg News report it is planning further investments in the country, after investing in a new plant at the Murowa diamond mine, operated by its associate RZM Murowa.

Sources told Bloomberg the deal was worth $58m but RioZim did not disclose a figure.
