SHANGHAI, Apr 12 (SMM) – High-nickel ternary cathode materials are expected to dominate the market by 2025 as demand surges, said research and development manager at Ningbo Ronbay Material, She Shengxian.
This is due to its “exceptional performance” in terms of capacity, circulation, discharge rate, and resistance to high temperatures, he told delegates at the SMM CoLiNi Summit in Quzhou, Zhejiang province on Thursday April 12.
By 2025, high-nickel ternary cathode materials are likely to account for two-thirds of the market share for ternary cathode. Consumption of NCM811, a variety of high-nickel ternary cathode material, is expected to grow exponentially.
She believes that the growth of electric cars in China will outpace that of traditional ones. Growth in electric cars is expected to increase 22 times to 17 million units by 2025, from 2015. Traditional automobiles are only expected togrow 11% from 2015 and reach 100 million units by 2025.
