NANNING, May 25 (SMM) – Development of 5G networks in China is likely to bolster the demand for galvanised steel in next two to three years, said Zhang Qifu, president of the Asia Pacific General Galvanizers Association and director of the hot-dipping department at the Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection.

In China, galvanised steel is mostly used in building infrastructure such as roads and railways, Zhang told the delegates at the SMM Lead Zinc Summit on Friday May 25 in Nanning, Guangxi province. Zhang added that hot-dipping is the most popular galvanising process in China.

As of 2016, there remains over 500 hot-dip galvanising production lines with annual capacities above 100 million mt. This includes 20 electrogalvanising production lines and 90 hot-dip coating lines with annual capacities of 3.5 million mt and 15 million mt, respectively.
